Getting S'more's fatigue? 😴 Yeah, us neither. But check out these Double Chocolate Campfire Bananas. 😱 A double chocolatey take on a campfire classic! 🔥
4 ripe but firm bananas
½ cup mini marshmallows or vegan mini marshmallows
⅓ cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips
4 Julia’s TableⓇ Dreamy Chocolate Brownies, coarsely crumbled
Prepare a charcoal grill fire, preheat a gas grill on medium-high heat for 10 minutes, or build a campfire or a fire in a fire pit. Alternatively, preheat the oven to 425℉.
Use a paring knife to cut a lengthwise slit in each banana, cutting through the peel and into the banana flesh but not all the way through to the other side.
Stuff the bananas with marshmallows, chocolate, and brownies. Wrap the bananas tightly in heavy duty aluminum foil.
Set the wrapped bananas on the grill grate, or, if using a campfire, set the bananas on the hot coals. If using the oven, place the wrapped bananas on a sheet pan. Cook or bake until the bananas are softened and the filling is gooey, about 10 minutes.
To serve, carefully unwrap the bananas and pass around spoons for scooping the soft banana and toppings from the peel.
Kids In the Kitchen!
Have kids stuff their own bananas with their favorite fillings. You can set out a wide variety of fillings in addition to the ones in the recipe above--sunflower seed butter, raspberry jam or fresh raspberries, colorful sprinkles, caramel sauce, and candied ginger are all good options. Any of the Julia’s Table cookies can be used instead of brownies--just coarsely crumble them with your fingers.
